I fell in love with Scottsdale, AZ from the very first visit. The charming old town district streets are lined with the sweetest Southwestern stores. I always stock up on Mexican imports like saddle blankets, paper flowers, and colorful ceramics. Fresh margaritas and guacamole are the standard. We even found a place with avocado margaritas. Yes, they were delish.
Scottsdale’s creative scene is this amazing blend of traditional & modern Southwest with Native American roots. The sun is always shining, things are affordable, and there are some really great hotel options for mid-century lux like the
Hotel Valley-Ho or the more casual
Saguaro. We’ve stayed in both and I can’t decide which I love more. They are both really close to downtown, have great restaurants, and both have a mid-century meets Southwest vibe, which means I was sold pretty easily.
We decided to take a quick trip to Arizona last weekend. Working long hours lately, we needed an escape. We left Vegas and drove the 4.5 hours after work on Friday. We stayed in Scottsdale, but decided to leave early Sunday morning and drive back through Sedona. A friend of ours told us about these positive energy vortexes there so we had to check it out. While I am a little skeptical still, I will say the natural beauty of this hidden gem city does bring smiles to the faces of visitors, and it seemed like it had the same effect on the locals too. The entire city is surrounded by red rocks. The Roadtrippers app helped us find the Chapel of the Holy Cross, an ‘actual’ positive energy vortex (see proof below), and a great Native restaurant.
I am already planning our next trip back to Sedona, hopefully Scottsdale too.
